Library Tutorials

Finding Full Texts From Citations

If you are trying to find a full text of an article when you only have the citation, Alden library makes it easy to figure this problem out. The first step is to identify the author and the publication date. Also, make sure you find the title of the journal, this is very important. Next, go to the library homepage and click on ALICE. Change the search bar to periodic title to see the records. Make sure you look for the date, volume, and issue. This is a great tool to use when you are using citations and can be very helpful.

How To Find A Book

When searching for a book in Alden library, it may be very stressful and overwhelming at first, but if you follow a few simple steps you can easily find whatever you are looking for. The first step in finding a book is using ALICE, which is the online catalogue. Make sure you type in small keywords on ALICE to find the subject you are searching for. Do not use full sentences while searching for a book you want and make multiple terms into smaller terms. Once you find the book you are looking for write down the call number or send it as a text message to your phone.  After this, look up what floor the book is on and follow the signs to where the call number is located. As you walk through the stacks find the range with your call number on it. Similar topics are usually in the same range of the shelf, which is very helpful. Lastly, check out your book at the checkout desk with your student ID.
